The Biomimicry Institute’s Youth Design Challeng

The Biomimicry Institute’s Youth Design Challenge (YDC) is a project-based learning experience that asks middle and high school teams to design bio-inspired ideas that can provide solutions to critical real-world problems. It provides a framework for formal and informal educators to introduce biomimicry as an engineering design strategy, to integrate relevant purposeful STEM experiences, and to provide engaging instruction aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). NatuR&D collaborates with @peninsulastreams to annouce that the RUSH Initiative has won @rbc's Tech for Nature Grant!

The RUSH Initiative is building an open source & accessible mapping platform that consolidates emerging, existing and real-time datasets on community and ecosystem health indicators integrated on the regional GIS system to facilitate climate action

This map, made by Gillian Voss, shows temperature hotspots over the past five years in the Capital Regional District. By increasing canopy cover and descreases pavement, we can beat the heat!
